Our Story
The current school to prison pipeline puts Black and Brown Girls at risk for increased suspensions, and decreased social development. Specifically for Black Girls in NYC, suspensions are 11x more likely to occur. Black and Brown Girls must deal with historical circumstances and systemic issues that further exacerbates the impact of suspensions that target their self esteem and self efficacy. Additionally, Black and Brown Girls from undeserved schools lack access to professional and career development. RISE was founded on the principles of empowerment through education, and reform through Restorative Justice.and In May of 2025, RISE was awarded $5,000, and built partnerships with organizations that cared for social change and Women empowerment. RISE launched its first empowerment week in April 6-10th 2026, utilizing Restorative Justice Training, Mentorship, and Career panels to cultivate an uplifting leadership experience.
